DESCRIPTION:June 16\, 2026\n\nDue to a scheduling conflict of the speaker\,
  the June meeting has been changed to Tuesday\, June 16th from our regular
  second Tuesday.\n\nRestoring Native Grasslands in the Face of Invasives w
 ith Wendy Gardner\nGrasslands are among our most threatened ecosystems\, p
 roviding critical habitat\, biodiversity\, and ecological services. Yet th
 eir restoration is increasingly challenged by invasive plants that alter s
 oil\, competition\, and recovery dynamics. This talk will highlight the im
 portance of native grasslands\, the difficulties posed by invasive species
 \, and case studies of student research on grassland restoration. \n\nWend
 y Gardner is a Professor in the Natural Resource Science Program at Thomps
 on Rivers University in Kamloops\, BC\, Canada where she has been teaching
  for over 20 years. Her research program is based around disturbance and p
 lant community change with a focus on rangeland systems. Within her discip
 line she is an active member on the executive for several organizations (S
 ociety for Range Management\, BC Technical and Research Committee on Recla
 mation\, Grasslands Conservation Council of BC) and is passionate about ed
 ucating people about rangeland ecosystems.
