A field trip is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10th to the French Mine, located up the Nickel Plate Road. We will leave the cars on the Nickel Plate Road… hike in following a road…eventually scrambling up to the site of the adit… hike back to the cars. There are some interesting views along the way; maybe you’ll find some gold or interesting mineral samples!

WHAT TO BRING: water, appropriate clothing, sunscreen lotion, sunhat, lunch, appropriate footwear.
You might want to let us know if you are coming; otherwise if you are not at Riverside by departure time (9:00 am) you might get left behind.

INFORMATION ABOUT DONATIONS:
There is a matter of donations. It was agreed (in the distant past) that if a person got a ride he or she would give the driver a donation to help pay for gas. The price of gas being so expensive these days I think that everyone would agree that it’s only fair. This is not for short distances but distances of a round trip that involves at least an hour or more of driving (there & back, e.g. 45 mins there 45 mins back). A suggested donation would be $10 per person.
