A WALK ON THE OLD VV&E RAILWAY BED led by Rika Ruebsaat 295-4006 Sunday, August 7, 2022
The first train arrived in Princeton in September 1909. It was the VV&E (Vancouver, Victoria and Eastern) Railway and it came up the Similkameen Valley from the US. Highway 3 east of Princeton lies right on top of the old railway bed. A few kilometers west of Hedley the highway crosses to the north shore of the Similkameen River but the railway bed continues along the south shore.
This level walk will take us along the river on the old VV&E railway bed. Bring binoculars, lunch and a drink. Dogs welcome. Meet at Billy’s at 9 am.
