The outing on Sunday, April 30 will be up the Barcello Canyon (Blind Creek) above Cawston.
Meet at Riverside at 9:00 a.m. to carpool to trailhead which should be about 50 minutes. The hike should be approx. 4 hours and is moderate in difficulty. Uphill with about four crossings of the creek. Lunch probably at waterfall or else at viewpoint higher up depending on the timing. If some don’t want to go up to the viewpoint, we could possibly split into two groups although it’s only about another ½ hour. The view is certainly worthwhile as you can see a long way to the south over Cawston and the Similkameen Valley.
Wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the forecast, bring lunch, water of course. Looks like it’ll be sunscreen season by then. There are mid-high 20s in the forecast at the moment. There is quite a bit of shade along the creek.
Hike starts on Daly Drive. Turn left off Hwy. 3 onto Daly, cross Upper Bench/Barcello Road and park along fence where Daly takes a right turn.
Please RSVP if you intend to come so we don’t leave anyone behind. Phone 273-0327 or by email (info@vffn.ca).
