An outing is planned for next week, Sunday, Oct.25th. Social distancing will be practiced (an easy thing to do when outdoors) and masks are mandatory.
The outing is a total of 3 hours walk (there & back). We will drive upthe Nickel Plate Road, as far as the mine tailings, park, and begin our walk. John will relate some mine history and point out interesting geology. Along the way we will see massive trees, birds, enjoy natural grasslands and be rewarded with stunning vistas.
We leave from Billy’s @9:30 am. Arrange rides if needed. We will be taking our truck so we don’t have passenger room. You do not need four wheel drive to get up to this area; a regular car can easily get up there. Dress appropriately and wear sensible shoes, i.e.. hiking boots.
Don’t forget to bring a lunch.
Weather will not deter us.
